KUALA LUMPUR: Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai Jemie have reached the quarter-finals of the Swiss Open. They are the top seeds in the mixed doubles category and are the only players from Malaysia to advance. The duo faced a tough match against Thailand’s Ruttanapak Oupthong and Jhenicha Sudjaipraparat in the second round on March 20. After a challenging 58 minutes, they won the match with scores of 20-22, 25-23, and 21-11. This victory was especially meaningful as they lost to the same pair in the first round of the previous year's Thailand Open. In contrast, Wong Tien Ci and Lim Chiew Sien could not replicate their success. They were defeated by fourth seeds Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue, with a score of 16-21, 10-21. Leong Jun Hao fought hard but lost in the men's singles match against Kenta Nishimoto. After a slow start, he pushed the match to a third game but eventually lost 17-21, 22-20, 20-22 after nearly one hour and 40 minutes of play. Goh Jin Wei also faced a tough challenge in the women's singles against second seed Supanida Katethong. After dropping the first game, she fought back to win the second but lost the decisive game 21-9, 18-21, 24-22 after 59 minutes.
