Goldfish rebrands as Chilean Sea Bass to attract adult consumers
Goldfish crackers are temporarily rebranding as "Chilean Sea Bass" to attract adult consumers. This change aims to broaden their audience amid a decline in snacking since the pandemic. The recipe and appearance will remain the same. The new name will only be available online for one week, while traditional Goldfish bags will still be sold in stores. Goldfish was originally marketed to adults when launched in 1962 but shifted focus to children in the 1990s. The company has been expanding its product line with adult-friendly options, contributing to a 13% increase in snack sales last year. Despite a decline in overall snacking, adults continue to seek nostalgic treats.
