Golf ball-sized hail damages vehicles in Central Texas
A strong storm system moved into Central Texas late Sunday. It followed a weekend of heavy rain and hail in the Midwest. The storm brought warm, humid air from the Gulf of Mexico. In the Hill Country region, the storm produced golf ball-sized hail and wind gusts reaching 60 to 65 mph. Some reports even mentioned baseball-sized hail. One local resident shared videos showing the intense hailstorm. He noted that the hail lasted up to 25 minutes, calling it the worst he had seen in 21 years living in Kerrville. Videos captured the hail hitting a backyard pool, creating big waves. Other footage showed trees swaying in the strong winds. After the storm, the city appeared to be covered in a misty haze, likely from melting hail adding moisture to the air. Overall, the storm did not cause significant issues like flooding or tornadoes in Texas. However, as the system moved east into Louisiana, tornado warnings were issued. The rainfall in Texas might not be enough to end the drought, but more rain is expected later this week, with another storm forecasted for South Texas.
