A new Goodwill Art Works workshop and retail store will open in Lambertville on March 24. This is the first such center in Monroe County, following the establishment of two similar centers in nearby Lenawee County. The Art Works center will be located inside a former Goodwill store at 7300 Secor Road. It will house an art studio and a retail shop where items made by participants will be sold. Goodwill Industries aims to create life-changing opportunities for individuals facing barriers. According to Rebecca Molina, a manager at Goodwill, participants receive 85 percent of the sales from their art. The center will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. The grand opening will include tours of the facilities, networking, and light refreshments. There will also be fun art installations and a space for customers to create their own sand wax candles. Participants at the Lambertville Art Works can sell their creations at the nearby Adrian Center for the Arts. They will also have opportunities to join workshops and learn valuable job skills. This program is designed for artists and crafters seeking to build confidence and connect with the community. The Art Works center is inspired by similar programs in Michigan. Goodwill has partnered with various local organizations to support its mission. The Lambertville Training Center operates alongside Art Works and serves 14 participants, providing essential training services. In addition, Goodwill Industries opened a Bookstore in Temperance two years ago, which remains popular for its wide range of books and events. The Lambertville retail store has also expanded, offering various items and accepting donations. Goodwill continues to enhance its services in Monroe and Lenawee counties, aiming to provide meaningful opportunities for individuals and strengthen community ties.
