Google and Samsung launch mixed-reality headset to challenge Apple and Meta
Google and Samsung have launched a new mixed-reality headset and operating system, Android XR, to compete with Apple and Meta. The Samsung headset, codenamed Project Moohan, aims to provide a lighter, more comfortable experience than Apple's Vision Pro. Android XR will allow various companies to create their own XR devices, leveraging AI features. The Samsung headset will debut next year, with a focus on comfort and usability, including a larger field of view and easy switching between AR and VR modes. Unlike Apple, which restricts its software to its own devices, Google plans to support third-party manufacturers. Samsung's headset is expected to be priced lower than the Vision Pro, which costs $3,499.
