Google and Samsung unveil next-gen mixed-reality headsets and smart glasses powered by AI
Google and Samsung are developing new mixed-reality headsets and smart glasses, powered by an AI assistant named Gemini. These devices aim to integrate seamlessly with Android phones and other hardware, marking a shift in how augmented and virtual reality will function. The Android XR platform, set to launch fully in 2025, will allow users to run multiple apps simultaneously and utilize Gemini for enhanced interactions. This approach differs from competitors like Apple and Meta, which have been slower to incorporate AI into their AR and VR products. Samsung's mixed-reality headset, Project Moohan, features advanced tracking and display technology. Google is also testing smart glasses under Project Astra, which include a heads-up display and real-time translation capabilities. Both products are currently in development, with more details expected in the coming years.
