Google DeepMind CEO predicts AGI in five to ten years
Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, predicts that artificial general intelligence (AGI) will emerge in the next five to ten years. He noted that current AI systems are limited and require further research to achieve human-like capabilities. Hassabis' timeline contrasts with some industry leaders who expect AGI sooner. For instance, Cisco's Jeetu Patel believes AGI could appear as early as this year, while others, like Tesla's Elon Musk, suggest it may be available by 2026. Hassabis emphasized the challenge of developing AI that understands real-world context. He mentioned ongoing advancements in multi-agent systems, which involve AI agents collaborating and competing, as a step toward achieving AGI.
