Google plans June 3 launch for Android 16 update
Google plans to release Android 16 earlier than the previous version, targeting the second quarter of 2024, specifically June 3. This date marks both the release of the code to the Android Open Source Project and the start of the over-the-air update for Google Pixel devices.
This rollout is a change from this year, where there was a delay of over a month between the code release and the update for devices. The earlier release aims to ensure that more smartphones, including the upcoming Pixel 10 family, can launch with Android 16 pre-installed.
Samsung's next foldable devices are also expected to benefit from this timing, as they are set to launch in July 2024.
