Google rolls out Gemini Live features on Android devices
Google has started rolling out new features for its Gemini Live service, which now includes camera and screen sharing using Project Astra technology. This update was first announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) earlier in March. So far, an Android user has reported seeing a new button labeled “Share screen with Live” above the existing options in Gemini Live. Users can share their entire screen but cannot share a single app at this time. The update also introduces real-time camera capabilities for interaction, which can be accessed by starting a video stream in the Gemini Live interface. The rollout is taking place gradually, and the features are not yet available on all devices. Reported users have come from Xiaomi phones and Google One subscriptions. Google has mentioned that the Astra features are specifically available to Gemini Advanced subscribers, who pay $19.99 per month. In the past, Google indicated that owners of Pixel and Galaxy S25 series phones would be among the first to access these new features. However, there is no specific technical reason why these features are limited to certain devices. It should also be possible to use Astra on iPhones, but Google has not yet announced support for Apple devices. Currently, some functionalities, like sharing photos, files, and YouTube videos, are not available on iOS.
