Google updates Chromecast and TV Streamer with new channels feature including BBC and ITV

Google's Chromecast and new TV Streamer devices have received a significant update, introducing a new Channels tab. This feature allows users to easily see and access live channels from supported apps like BBC, ITV, and Discovery. Users can click on a channel to stream it directly within its respective app. However, an account with the app is required for seamless access. The BBC iPlayer app is not yet available on the Google TV Streamer, but BBC channels can still be viewed. The Google TV Streamer, launched in August for £99, offers faster speeds and more storage than its predecessor. However, early users have noted the absence of BBC iPlayer as a drawback. Channel 4 is also not available on these devices.
