Google Vids adds AI voiceovers feature for videos

Google has announced an update to its video creation app, Google Vids. This new feature adds AI-powered voiceovers to the platform's "Help me create" tool. The update allows the app to automatically generate voiceovers for every scene it creates. Users can customize the voiceovers according to their needs. They can choose from a variety of voice options or decide to turn the voiceovers off entirely. This feature enhances the video's content, providing more flexibility for users. Google Vids first launched in November 2024. The app already allowed users to create video drafts from text prompts and documents stored in Google Drive. It utilizes an AI model named Gemini to generate scenes, stock media, scripts, and background music. With the new voiceover feature, users can also select a specific AI voice that fits their video's tone. To access this feature, users need to create a new video in Google Vids and select the voiceover option. Currently, this feature is available only in English. It is being rolled out for Google Workspace Business, Enterprise, Essentials, and Education accounts. However, compatibility is limited to the newest versions of Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge on Windows.
