Goondas Act applied to five for Molotov cocktail attack

thehindu.com

Coimbatore City Police have applied the Goondas Act against five men arrested for attempting to throw Molotov cocktails at two buildings in Selvapuram last month. The suspects are Nasar Basha, Faisal Rahuman, Zahir Hussain, Idayathulla, and Mohammed Harsath. Basha was arrested on February 12 while carrying petrol and materials to make the cocktails. He reportedly planned to attack a BJP leader's building after a financial dispute and had threatened a tea shop cashier the previous evening. The other four suspects were arrested later. The Goondas Act allows for stricter penalties for those involved in organized crime.
