GOP legislators in Southern California form Hispanic caucus and plan wildfire discussions
Republican legislators in Southern California have formed their own Hispanic caucus after feeling excluded from the Democratic-led California Latino Legislative Caucus. This new group aims to address issues important to the Latino community, such as affordability and public safety. Senator Kelly Seyarto plans to hold wildfire roundtables, citing his experience as a firefighter. He expressed frustration over being left out of discussions on wildfire legislation, emphasizing the need for effective solutions rather than temporary fixes. The new Hispanic Legislative Caucus currently has seven Republican members and operates as a nonprofit. It seeks funding similar to that received by the Latino Legislative Caucus, which has 35 members and focuses on advancing Latino interests in California.
