GOP support for Musk may decline over military issues

Republican lawmakers have so far supported Elon Musk as he cuts federal spending, but this might change soon. Brendan Buck, a GOP strategist and former adviser, shared his views on MSNBC. He highlighted Musk's significant funding in politics that supports Donald Trump. Buck explained that this funding creates a challenge for lawmakers. It serves as a warning to Republicans who might oppose Trump. Because of this influence, many GOP members have been cautious about criticizing Musk. Recently, however, Republicans expressed their discontent in a letter regarding a Department of Defense issue, showing they can push back when necessary. Buck emphasized that Congress takes military matters seriously. He believes that if Musk continues to interfere with these issues, lawmakers will respond more aggressively. He does not think this potential backlash will be as strong as reactions to cuts affecting education funding.
