Gorakhpur attracts over ₹11,600 crore in investments
Gorakhpur has changed significantly under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's leadership over the past eight years. From 2017 to 2025, the city attracted investments worth ₹11,618.75 crore, greatly improving its industrial landscape. The Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) has been developed similarly to NOIDA. GIDA now has 319 operational units, providing nearly 39,448 jobs. This is a big increase compared to just ₹29.33 crore invested from 2012 to 2017. GIDA is now attracting both national and international businesses. Several major investments have been made, including ₹1,200 crore from Keyan Industries and ₹1,100 crore from Varun Beverages. Other investments include ₹500 crore from Ankur Udyog and ₹400 crore from India Auto Wheel. Plans for a Plastic Park and a Garment Park are also underway. An 800-acre Industrial Corridor is being built along the Gorakhpur Link Expressway, and a 5,500-acre land bank is being developed at Dhuriapar Industrial City. The Yogi Adityanath government has invested ₹7,486.89 crore in 1,492 km of new roads, enhancing Gorakhpur's road, rail, and air connectivity. Key projects include the Jungle Kauria-Sonauli Four-Lane Highway and the Gorakhpur Greenfield Bypass. In education, Gorakhpur has become known as a "Knowledge City." It now has several notable institutions, including a Sainik School and multiple universities. These educational advancements position Gorakhpur as a strong educational hub in India. With ongoing industrialization, infrastructure improvements, and educational growth, Gorakhpur is becoming an important center in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
