Gorakhpur Link Expressway nearing operation in Uttar Pradesh

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

The Uttar Pradesh government has approved plans to open the Gorakhpur Link Expressway soon. This expressway is 91.3 kilometers long and has faced some major challenges. The route was affected by the Ghaghra River, which caused the road's approach to wash away. A significant bridge was built to connect Jahangirganj and Belghat in Gorakhpur. However, strong river currents created a new stream that washed out the approach to the bridge in Belghat. Due to safety concerns, immediate repairs were necessary. A team from IIT Roorkee, along with engineers and experts, has been working on solutions. A budget of Rs 199 crore has been allocated for these repairs. According to a senior official, the project is almost complete, with 99% finished. The expressway will be opened to the public after a final inspection.
