Grace Clinton's goal secures Manchester United's 4-0 victory
Grace Clinton scored a remarkable goal from 40 yards to help Manchester United defeat Aston Villa 4-0 in the Women's Super League. This victory keeps United competitive for a top-three finish in the league. Clinton's goal came just before halftime. She caught Villa's goalkeeper, Sabrina D'Angelo, off guard. However, there was some controversy as Clinton appeared to have fouled Jill Baijings in the buildup, but the referee did not call a free-kick. Before Clinton's goal, United was already leading 2-0. Elisabeth Terland scored both of these goals. Her first goal was a well-placed shot, followed by a header from a great cross by Jayde Riviere. Leah Galton added the fourth goal early in the second half. She tapped in a cross from Melvine Malard, which was slightly deflected by Lucy Parker. Aston Villa's best chance came late in the match when Missy Bo Kearns shot wide. The only downside for Manchester United was an injury to Celine Bizet, who left the field after a hard tackle. United bounced back strongly after losing to Liverpool last week and now sits third in the league, tied on points with Arsenal and ahead of Manchester City.
