Grandfather dies rescuing dog from Prairieville fire
A grandfather died while trying to save his dog from a house fire in Barry County, Michigan, on March 21. Firefighters were called to the scene at 8:11 a.m. after residents reported an elderly man was trapped inside. The man, who was 80 years old, went back into the burning house for the dog and got trapped by smoke. Sadly, both he and the dog did not survive. His granddaughter and great-granddaughter managed to escape the fire without injury. Firefighters from several departments worked together to put out the fire, which took around two hours. They found the grandfather inside the house but could not revive him. The cause of the fire is still being looked into, and authorities do not suspect foul play. Fire Chief Brian Uridge expressed his condolences to the families affected. He noted the cooperation among the fire departments during this tragic incident.
