Greater Noida faces water shortage after pipe bursts

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

In Greater Noida, over 15,000 residents faced a severe water shortage for more than 36 hours due to a burst main pipeline. The pipeline, near the Jaypee Golf Course roundabout, burst on Saturday evening, leaving taps barely trickling water. Authorities from GNIDA responded by sending water tankers to assist those affected. However, many residents said the number of tankers was not enough to meet their needs, particularly during the hot summer months. As a result, people relied on stored water and little flow from the taps. Despite the efforts to address the issue, the water supply remained disrupted after one and a half days. The repair work was delayed as the broken pipeline was difficult to access due to mud and debris. Gurvinder Singh, a senior manager in the water department, explained that the pipe was severely corroded, which complicated repairs. Residents expressed their frustration and threatened to protest if the situation did not improve. Officials stated they expected to complete the repairs and resume normal water supply by Monday evening.
