Greenfield woman sentenced for fatal Milwaukee drunk driving crash

A woman from Greenfield has been sentenced to eight years in prison for a drunk driving crash that killed a man near Timmerman Airport in Milwaukee. Alma Espino, 26, pleaded guilty to homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. The judge dismissed another charge related to her alcohol level. Espino was sentenced by Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Jeffrey Wagner. After serving her prison time, she will have six years of extended supervision. She is also prohibited from using firearms or body armor. Espino has been in custody since her arrest on July 13. She will receive credit for 253 days already served. The crash happened on the evening of July 11, when she struck a fence and flipped her car, killing Dimitri Boone, a 57-year-old man from Milwaukee. Witnesses reported that Espino was speeding and driving erratically. When police arrived, she was unaware of the crash and had hit a pedestrian. Her blood alcohol concentration was measured at 0.163%, which is more than twice the legal limit. Authorities also found open containers of alcohol in her vehicle.
