A special program about the Greengate Mall will take place at the Live Casino in Hempfield on April 6. This event is organized by the Westmoreland County Historical Society. It will run from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and is part of their “Remember When” series. Gary Nelson will lead the discussion, titled “Remember When We Shopped at the Greengate Mall.” Lisa Hays, the executive director of the society, noted that the mall was important because it was the first shopping mall in Westmoreland County. Chad Altman will display some items he found before the mall was torn down. The cost for the program is $48, which includes a sit-down lunch, a multimedia presentation, and various exhibits. People interested in attending must make a reservation by April 2. They can call the historical society at 724-836-1800, ext. 210, to reserve a spot.
