Greenland PM insists territory is not for sale after Trump remarks
Greenland's Prime Minister Mute Egede stated that the territory is "not for sale" after U.S. President-elect Donald Trump suggested purchasing it for national security reasons. Egede emphasized that Greenland will "never be for sale." Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen's office also reiterated that Greenland is not for sale but expressed a desire for cooperation with the new U.S. administration. Greenland is an autonomous territory of Denmark with a population of about 55,000. In related comments, Trump mentioned the possibility of the U.S. retaking control of the Panama Canal if shipping fees are not reduced. He criticized current fees and expressed concerns about Chinese influence in Panama.
