Greenland PM reaffirms island is not for sale after Trump raises ownership issue
Greenland's Prime Minister Múte Egede stated that the island is "not for sale" after U.S. president-elect Donald Trump raised the issue of its ownership. Trump emphasized the importance of U.S. control over Greenland for national security. This comment comes five years after Trump suggested buying Greenland, which is a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark. His previous proposal was rejected by Denmark and Greenland's leaders. Trump's recent remarks have drawn attention as he prepares to take office on January 20. The Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, previously called Trump's 2019 offer "absurd."
