Greenland's PM reaffirms island is not for sale after Trump's ownership suggestion
Greenland's Prime Minister Mute Egede stated that the island is "not for sale" after Donald Trump suggested the U.S. should own it again. Egede emphasized Greenland's autonomy and commitment to its sovereignty. Trump's comments came as he named Ken Howery as the U.S. ambassador to Denmark. He argued that U.S. ownership of Greenland is necessary for national security. This is not the first time Trump has proposed U.S. control over Greenland. In 2019, he faced criticism for suggesting the U.S. should buy the territory, which is strategically important and home to a U.S. military base.
