Guided Eid heritage walk in Coimbatore on March 30
A guided heritage walk will take place in Coimbatore on March 30 to celebrate Eid al-Fitr. The event is organized by KV Siddhartha from the Coimbatore Art and Theatrical Society (CATS). Participants will explore significant sites, including Athar Jamath Masjid, Big Bazaar Street, and Karumbukadai. Eid al-Fitr is a joyful festival that marks the end of Ramzan, a month of fasting for Muslims. It is a time for prayers, family gatherings, and feasting. Siddhartha aims to capture this festive spirit with the guided walk. He mentioned that this is the first Eid-focused heritage walk, and he wants others to appreciate the vibrant atmosphere in the area. The walk will begin at Athar Jamath Masjid, which has historical importance in Coimbatore. This mosque was founded by perfume traders and is known for its simplicity. After visiting the mosque, the group will stroll through Big Bazaar, bustling with markets and food stalls preparing for the celebrations. Participants will then explore Karumbukadai, a neighborhood with a rich cultural identity. Siddhartha hopes these walks will help people connect with their city and gain a better understanding of its heritage. The event will allow for an hour of exploration before gathering again. There are only 12 spots available for this unique experience. Interested participants can register by sending a message through WhatsApp. The walk starts at 6 PM on March 30.
