Gujarat police identify 8,374 known criminals

Police in Gujarat have created a list of 8,374 known criminals and anti-social elements in the state. This action was announced by the state's director general of police, Vikas Sahay, during a crime conference in Godhra on Thursday. All police stations were given 100 hours to update their records of notorious individuals. The updated list categorizes these criminals based on the types of crimes they are involved in, such as property offences, assaults, and illegal activities linked to the mining mafia. Among those listed are 3,240 bootleggers, 322 gamblers, and 2,739 individuals accused of assault and making threats. The list also includes 1,355 people charged with property crimes and 68 linked to the mining mafia. Sahay emphasized that there will be strict actions taken against these individuals. Additionally, the police are addressing illegal construction and encroachment on government land.
