Gujarat techie Amit Gupta detained in Qatar for data theft

Amit Gupta, an Indian tech worker from Gujarat, is currently held in Qatar for three months. He was taken into custody on January 1 over allegations of data theft. His family insists he is innocent and has been wrongfully accused. Gupta is a senior employee at Tech Mahindra, where he oversees business operations for Qatar and Kuwait. He moved to Doha in 2013 and has almost twelve years of experience in the IT sector. His family claims he was detained while out for a meal, and they are seeking help from Indian authorities, including the Prime Minister's Office. The specific reasons for his detention have not been officially revealed. Gupta's father and mother reported that he was held without food or water for 48 hours before being moved to a room where he has remained. His family has had limited contact, receiving only a five-minute call from him each week. Amit Gupta's wife and elderly parents are distressed and continue to pursue his release. They have reached out to local politicians for assistance, while Indian authorities are reportedly providing support. Tech Mahindra is also actively coordinating with the family and working with relevant officials to ensure his well-being.
