Gukesh's coach highlights unique style as he compares young champion to Carlsen
Indian chess player D Gukesh, recently crowned the youngest world champion, is being compared to Magnus Carlsen. However, his coach, Grzegorz Gajewski, stated that Gukesh has a unique playing style focused on deep calculation, unlike Carlsen's intuitive approach. Gajewski emphasized that Gukesh will never play like Carlsen but can mimic his style. He noted Gukesh's patience on the board as a key strength, contrasting it with the speed of former champion Viswanathan Anand. Despite his historic win, Gukesh acknowledged Carlsen as the best player and expressed his goal to reach Carlsen's level of greatness. Gukesh will compete next in the Tata Steel Chess Tournament in January 2025.
