Gunfire exchanged during liquor raid in Saran

Police in Chhapra, Bihar, faced gunfire during a raid on an illegal liquor business in Bhat Kesari village on Wednesday night. A criminal from a vehicle shot at the officers as they approached. The gang, consisting of around ten members, included two on motorcycles. They quickly escaped when they saw the police. Saran Senior Superintendent of Police Kumar Ashish reported that the police fired back in self-defense. The attackers left their vehicle behind as they ran away under the cover of night. In the chaos, two individuals on a motorcycle tried to flee with a carton of liquor. Police managed to arrest one of them, but the motorcycle rider got away. Authorities found a total of 172 litres of liquor during the operation. This included 155 litres from the abandoned vehicle and 17 litres from the arrested suspect’s motorcycle. The arrested person indicated that many more were involved in the illegal liquor trade and had come together to receive their shipment. When they noticed the police, they opened fire and fled.
