Gurgaon launches free coaching center for women students

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

Gurgaon will soon launch a new coaching centre exclusively for women attending government colleges. The centre is set to open in April and will help prepare students for competitive examinations, including the UPSC. The initiative aims to address the disparity between talented women and their access to costly coaching services. Many students from less privileged backgrounds struggle to afford tuition, which can exceed lakhs. The coaching centre will be located at the Government Women's College in Sector 14. The programme will have three batches, each with 75 spots for eligible final-year undergraduate or postgraduate students from government colleges. To enroll, students must pass a preliminary test. All costs associated with the centre, including setup and staff salaries, will be funded by corporate social responsibility (CSR) contributions from private companies. The additional CEO of the Haryana CSR Trust, Gaurav Singh, stated that the centre will provide comprehensive support, including coaching in UPSC subjects, study materials, internet access, and career counselling. A computer lab with 40 systems will also be available for online studies and practice exams. Ajay Kumar, the deputy commissioner of Gurgaon, emphasized that this initiative will help talented women achieve their dreams without financial burden. Students can pursue their degrees while attending coaching classes. Those focused on careers outside of civil services will also receive training for job interviews and skill development. Priya Kumar, a second-year student at the Government Girls College, expressed her excitement about the new centre. She mentioned that many students like her aspire to join civil services but struggle with the costs of private coaching. This new facility could change that.
