Gurgaon man receives life sentence for friend's murder

A man was sentenced to life in prison for killing his friend in Gurgaon in 2021. The incident happened after a night of drinking. The convict, Ashok Kumar, attacked the victim, Arun Kumar Singh, with a helmet and later strangled him. After believing Arun was dead, Ashok left the scene but returned when he saw Arun still moving. In a brutal act, he struck Arun's head with a stone multiple times. The police were alerted by locals on November 11, 2021, when they discovered Arun's body hidden in the bushes. An investigation began when Arun's wife, Rinki, reported that Ashok had confessed to the murder. She had returned to her village in Bihar shortly before the incident. Rinki said Ashok admitted to killing her husband after an argument. During their investigation, police found evidence linking Ashok to the crime. They learned that he had borrowed a scooter from a coworker on the evening of the murder. His history of criminal activity, including theft and gang offenses, was also revealed. The court ultimately handed down a life sentence for the murder.
