Gurgaon man receives life sentence for murder of companion
A man from Gurgaon has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his drinking companion. The incident took place in November 2021, when the accused attacked the victim using a helmet and a stone during an argument. The killing occurred on the night of November 10, 2021. The two men, Arun Kumar Singh and the accused, initially shared drinks when they began to argue. In a fit of rage, the convict struck Arun with a helmet and then strangled him. After checking for signs of life, he noticed Arun was still moving and struck him again with a stone. The next day, police found Arun’s body in Sector 37C, hidden in the bushes. Forensic experts determined he had suffered serious head injuries. During the investigation, Sombir, the owner of a local medical store where the accused worked, reported that the man had borrowed a scooter the night of the murder and had returned late, acting suspiciously. Later, Arun's wife received a call from the accused, who confessed to the murder, prompting her to contact the police. This led to the suspect's arrest on November 14, 2021. The accused, later identified as Sandeep alias Pintu, had a long criminal record, including past convictions for gang activities and theft. He had used a fake identity to hide his past. On March 21, 2025, a Gurgaon court sentenced him to life imprisonment for murder, along with additional sentences for related crimes, totaling years in prison and several fines. The court based its decision on strong evidence and witness testimonies.
