Gurudas Shenoy's exhibition "Journeys Within" opens in Indiranagar

Artist Gurudas Shenoy is currently showcasing his solo exhibit, "Journeys Within," in the city. This collection highlights his personal memories and spiritual journey through vivid paintings. Shenoy, who has been an artist for 40 years and recently turned 60, describes the show as a reflection of his life experiences. The exhibit is divided into two sections: "Spiritual Odyssey" and "Timeless Narratives." Each painting tells a story, featuring scenes from his travels and cherished moments from his childhood. In "Journeys Within," Shenoy emphasizes the process of creation. He often works on multiple canvases simultaneously, allowing the art to evolve. He describes painting as an immersive experience full of surprises, where accidental effects can add depth to the stories he tells. The work features a range of styles, combining bright colors with sepia tones and black-and-white images. Shenoy collects newspaper clippings for inspiration, layering them into his artwork to represent time and memory. He finds joy in simplicity and minimalism, focusing on what adds meaning to his work. Shenoy’s deep connection with nature greatly influences his art. Growing up in Udupi, Karnataka, he draws inspiration from the natural beauty around him, which brings him peace. He says nature is not just a visual aspect but a spiritual experience. "Journeys Within" will be on display at Artisera in Indiranagar until March 30. Entry is free, though the gallery is closed on Sundays.
