Gurugram bus depot to be upgraded due to delays
The Haryana roadways authority plans to improve the Gurugram Sector 12 bus depot. This decision comes because the new interstate bus terminal is delayed. The current bus depot infrastructure is old and not sufficient for the number of passengers it serves. The Gurugram Sector 12 bus depot is about 13 acres in size but has been in poor condition. Some buildings were torn down last year for safety reasons. The main terminal can only accommodate 100 to 150 passengers comfortably, although it handles around 400 buses each day, causing disorganization. Bharat Bhushan Gogia, the general manager of the Gurugram bus depot, stated that a new shed is planned for the southern area of the depot. This new structure will include ticket windows, a waiting area, and additional parking for buses. The public works department has been asked to come up with a plan and cost estimate for the new shed. In the future, the depot will move to Sector 36A, where a modern interstate bus terminal will be built. This new facility will feature a multi-storey air-conditioned terminal for 500 to 1,000 passengers and will include a shopping mall. The construction of the new terminal has faced delays. There was uncertainty about which part of the land would be used for the bus terminal. A construction plan was prepared, but it was not approved because it did not meet necessary standards. Changes are being made before the revised plan is resubmitted for approval.
