GVN mobilizes resources in response to MPOX emergency

The Global Virus Network (GVN) is responding to the World Health Organization's declaration of MPOX as a public health emergency. The GVN's MPOX Action Committee, formed in 2022, has mobilized resources and launched evaluations of diagnostic tools. In 2024, 2,863 cases and 517 deaths have been reported in Africa, with nearly 70% of cases in children under 15. The GVN emphasizes the need for improved vaccines and therapeutics.
