Hackers threaten Orange with 1TB data leak
Hackers have targeted telecom giant Orange again, this time claiming to have stolen 1TB of sensitive data. The cybercriminal group Babuk announced this on their website after allegedly breaking into Orange on March 16, 2024. Babuk claims to have gathered all information related to Orange's websites in Romania. They threatened to release the data if Orange does not negotiate with them. The group is known for ransomware attacks and has reportedly attacked 60 victims this year. The stolen data might include personal records, email addresses, internal documents, and even credit card information. A sample of 6.44GB of data was shared by the hackers, which includes detailed employee information and project files, leading experts to believe the group's claims could be credible. This is the second ransomware attack on Orange in a short span. In late February, the company confirmed it had experienced a cyberattack but was still investigating how much data was compromised. Orange has yet to issue a public comment on the latest incident.
