The Andhra Pradesh Waqf Board Chairman, Abdul Azeez, announced that nearly 50% of its properties are currently under encroachment. This totals about 1,986 assets and approximately 65,783.88 acres of land, with almost 31,594.20 acres subject to resumption by the State government. Mr. Azeez shared plans to lease around 30,000 acres of unencroached land through public auction. The proceeds from this auction will be used to support community development. He mentioned that the valuation of these lands presents a good opportunity for investors and developers. The funds raised will focus on improving education, employment, and infrastructure for the community. Mr. Azeez emphasized the importance of skill development programs to enhance job opportunities and empower local talent. He also noted that previous attempts to lease the board's properties faced opposition within the community, resulting in vacant lands for seven years without generating any income. Mr. Azeez stated he would ensure that all properties are utilized effectively and will lease them to industrialists regardless of caste or religion. The income from these ventures will support children's education and help widows in the community.
