Hamilton man sentenced to home detention for drug charges

A man named Royce Khan from Hamilton has been sentenced to home detention and has lost $57,000 after drugs were discovered during a traffic stop. Police found cannabis in Khan's car and at his home. They seized the cash after linking it to drug sales. Khan admitted that the money came from selling cannabis but did not claim it as his own. The searches conducted by police were legal. However, a judge ruled that the police kept the money for too long and did not follow the correct procedures. Despite this oversight, Justice Michele Wilkinson-Smith decided the money should go to the Crown for legal reasons.
