Harbin prepares for strong winter tourism season with increased bookings and new attractions

Northeast China, particularly Harbin, is set for a strong winter tourism season, with upgraded facilities and increased hotel bookings. The Harbin Ice and Snow World will expand significantly, adding more attractions ahead of the Asian Winter Games in February. Hotel bookings in Harbin have surged over 50% compared to last year, with many travelers coming from southern cities. Nearby cities like Yichun and Qiqihar also saw a similar rise in hotel reservations and flight bookings. The Chinese government has introduced measures to boost the ice and snow economy, projecting significant growth in the sector by 2027. New transportation options, like a high-speed railway to Aba in Sichuan, are enhancing access to popular winter destinations.
