Senior advocate N Hariharan has been elected president of the Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) following elections held on March 21. The results were announced on Sunday, March 24. Hariharan, who has a long history of representing high-profile political leaders, received 2,967 votes. He won by just 87 votes against senior advocate Kirti Uppal. The vice president position was filled by senior advocate Sachin Puri, who garnered 4,515 votes. Puri has a background in Political Science and law, having graduated from respected institutions. Other notable elections include Kanika Singh as treasurer and Premlata Bansal and Kajal Chandra as members of the executive committee. Vidhi Gupta was also elected as the member executive specifically for women. This year’s elections were significant because three executive positions were reserved for women. This decision came after a Supreme Court directive aimed at increasing gender representation in the legal field. Last year's executive committee included only two women, while this new committee will have four. The reserved posts were claimed by the elected members, expanding female representation among the 15-member executive committee.
