Harmeet Desai aims for upsets at WTT Chennai

Harmeet Desai, an Indian table tennis player ranked 70th in the world, is optimistic about his chances at the WTT Star Contender tournament in Chennai. The event takes place from March 25 to 30, with the main draw starting on March 27. Desai aims to perform better than in previous editions where he was eliminated in the first round. Desai acknowledges the challenge ahead, as he will compete against top players like World No. 3 Tomokazu Harimoto and World No. 6 Hugo Calderano. Despite this, he believes he can reach the later stages of the tournament. He has previously defeated high-ranking players and is hoping for a chance to create upsets. In addition to singles, Desai will team up with fellow Indian G Sathiyan for men's doubles. They have a strong partnership and have previously achieved success together. Desai mentions that they both play well close to the table and are looking forward to getting good results again. Desai will also compete in mixed doubles with Yashaswini Ghorpade, a young player ranked 80th in the women's singles. He is excited to partner with her, noting her impressive progress in the last couple of years. Desai's goal is to reach the quarterfinals in singles and achieve success in doubles.
