Harvey Weinstein appears in court for pretrial hearing ahead of retrial
Harvey Weinstein appeared in a New York court for a pretrial hearing on Wednesday. His retrial on sex crimes charges will not begin until at least next year, as his lawyer seeks time to investigate a new charge added in September. Judge Curtis Farber agreed to consolidate Weinstein's cases and will set a new trial date by January 29, 2025. The trial was initially scheduled for November 12, but Weinstein's lawyers requested a delay to March or April to prepare. Weinstein faces charges related to assaults in 2006 and 2013. He has pleaded not guilty. The prosecution argues that the cases are closely related, while Weinstein's defense claims they should remain separate.
