Harvey Weinstein diagnosed with cancer as he awaits retrial on sex crime charges
Harvey Weinstein, the convicted sex offender, has been diagnosed with cancer while serving his sentence. The 72-year-old learned of his diagnosis earlier this month, although his representative initially denied it and criticized speculation about his health. Weinstein is currently awaiting a retrial on rape charges after a New York Court overturned his conviction in April 2024. He was previously sentenced to 23 years in prison in 2020 for third-degree rape and first-degree criminal sexual act. The former film producer's legal troubles began in 2017 when multiple women accused him of sexual assault. He has faced additional charges and was sentenced to 16 more years in 2022 for other sexual assault offenses.
