Harvey Weinstein diagnosed with leukaemia as he faces new charges in New York
Harvey Weinstein has been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia while serving time at Rikers Island prison. This diagnosis adds to his existing health issues, which include recent hospitalizations for COVID-19 and heart surgery. Weinstein, 72, is facing new charges as Manhattan prosecutors seek to combine them with his previous sexual crime convictions. His New York conviction was recently overturned, but he remains in prison due to a separate 16-year sentence for rape in California. His legal team is pushing for an earlier trial date, expressing Weinstein's eagerness to prove his innocence. A judge has set a retrial date for early July 2024.
