Haryana allocates ₹5,000 crore for women's financial aid
Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini presented his first state budget on Monday. He announced a new program called the Lado Lakshmi Yojana, which promises ₹2,100 per month to women in the state. To support this initiative, the government has allocated ₹5,000 crore. However, opposition leaders are concerned this amount may not be enough. They point out that there are about 75 lakh women aged 18 to 60 in Haryana. The monthly cost for this program could exceed ₹1,500 crores, meaning the funds might only last for a few months. While Saini did not provide a specific start date for the program, he stated that the government is working on eligibility criteria. The plan might prioritize women from lower-income families first. Saini assured that budget allocations could be increased as needed in the future.
