Haryana government proposes 27 education initiatives for improvement
Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced 27 new proposals to improve the state's education system. This plan aligns with the National Education Policy and aims to enhance the quality of education in government schools, colleges, and universities. As part of the initiative, 17 new model sanskriti schools will be established within a 10 km radius in the state during the next financial year. Each district will have two government model sanskriti schools focusing on sports and skills, along with one model sanskriti college to uphold high educational standards. In addition, the state plans to return 12 government schools from double shifts to single shifts by improving infrastructure. If successful, more schools in other districts could follow suit. A new STEM lab will also be set up in 615 senior secondary schools to teach students modern technologies like robotics and AI. Saini announced the "Haryana Math Olympiad" to encourage mathematical skills among students from Class 10 to 12. Top three winners will receive cash prizes, while others in the top 100 will also get awards. Students from Classes 6 to 12 will have opportunities to visit technical institutes like ISRO and DRDO. A third language will be introduced for Classes 9-10 in the 2025-26 academic year. To support entrepreneurship, competitions will take place in each district, with ₹ 1 lakh awarded to chosen teams. Additionally, 1,497 government schools will have CCTV camera installations. It will also be mandatory for officials to engage with students monthly. Polytechnic institutes will be evaluated for rewards, and industry partnerships will be required in universities. Finally, two engineering institutes will be upgraded to the Haryana Institute of Technology. Under a new program, 2,000 final-year students will receive internships in industries with monthly stipends of ₹ 10,000. The budget for these various initiatives is set at ₹ 36 crore.
