Haryana promotes diversification from paddy-wheat farming cycle
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced the state government's commitment to help farmers move away from the traditional paddy-wheat crop cycle. He spoke at the closing ceremony of the 11th Mega Sabji Expo-2025 in Karnal. Saini highlighted that several new schemes have been introduced to increase farmers' income. During the event, he revealed plans to construct a hostel and seminar hall at the Indo-Israel Vegetable Excellence Centre. Saini also honored 74 progressive farmers and launched the 'Haryana Horticulture' magazine. Additionally, he paid tribute to martyrs Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru. The Chief Minister mentioned that the agriculture budget increased by 19.2% this year. He stated that young farmers would be sent to Israel to learn about advanced agricultural technologies. Saini praised Haryana's farmers for their innovative practices in fruit and vegetable cultivation, as well as beekeeping. He also announced a rise in the subsidy for purchasing indigenous cows from ₹25,000 to ₹30,000 in the 2025-26 budget. Emphasizing water conservation, Saini noted that farmers are adopting methods like drip and sprinkler irrigation. The government's goal is to support farmers at every step, from sowing to harvesting, through various concessions and facilities. Many local officials and farmers attended the event.
