The headmaster of TNDTA primary school in Pandarampatti, Thoothukudi district, has taken his students on an unforgettable trip to Chennai. S. Nelson Ponraj organized a field trip by air, allowing 17 fifth-grade students and two parents to experience different forms of transportation. The idea for the trip began during a class discussion about transportation methods, a topic included in their social science syllabus. A student mentioned his desire to travel by train or airplane, which inspired Mr. Ponraj to plan this adventure. He said, “I was moved by the heartfelt statement from the student.” To prepare for the trip, the headmaster visited the Tuticorin airport to inquire about ticket prices and made reservations three months in advance. The journey started on Saturday, March 22, with a flight from Tuticorin to Chennai. The students then took an electric train to Vandalur Zoo and experienced a metro train ride before returning home via train on Sunday, March 23. Mr. Ponraj expressed great joy watching the students enjoy their first experiences with various modes of transportation. One student, Hepzi Grena, said, “We never imagined such a trip to Chennai, and travelling with friends made it even more special.”
