Health Minister inspects new hospital in Udhagamandalam
The Health Minister, Ma. Subramanian, inspected the new Government Medical College and Hospital in Udhagamandalam on Sunday. This facility will be inaugurated by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on April 6. The hospital has 700 beds and includes a special ward for the Adivasi community. During his visit, the Minister checked various facilities, such as the emergency care ward and imaging services like MRI and CT scans. The construction of the hospital cost ₹143.69 crore. Mr. Subramanian highlighted the state's commitment to improving public health infrastructure. He mentioned the recent development of a 50-bed Government Hospital in Emerald, which cost ₹16.44 crore, and additional investments in Coonoor and Kotagiri hospitals. He announced upgrades for six primary health centres and the building of four new sub-health centres in several locations. Two more primary health centres will be constructed in Theppakadu and Ithalar at a cost of ₹1.25 crore. Coonoor MLA K. Ramachandran was also present during the inspection and had attended a meeting with local officials to discuss the Chief Minister's upcoming visit.
