Health team investigates 89 chickenpox cases in East Singhbhum
A central health team has been sent to East Singhbhum after a rapid outbreak of chickenpox. In just four days, 89 cases have been confirmed in three blocks: Dumaria, Chakulia, and Ghatsila. Dr. Aby Robinson, a senior consultant from the National Institute of Public Health Research and Training, is leading the one-member team. The team visited Monda village in the Dumaria block to investigate the cause of the outbreak. Local health officials joined the visit to discuss treatment and vaccination efforts with the villagers. The health panel is focusing on vaccination and cleanliness to prevent the spread of the virus. Dr. Asad, the district surveillance officer, emphasized the importance of keeping homes clean. He also advised villagers to avoid contact with those who are infected, as chickenpox spreads easily. Currently, there are 26 cases in Dumaria, 17 cases in Chalunia village, and another 26 cases in Amia Nagar village in Ghatsila. Patients are being given antibiotics and are advised to rest at home. The health team will continue their work in the area for two more days, visiting Chakulia and Ghatsila. They will compile their findings and send a report to the Union health ministry.
